A jury of experts will decide who of the five nominees deserves to win the Flemish Dissertation Award. Every year, the eminent jury consists of a selection of prominent journalists, publishers, leading authors and notable scientists and academics from different domains.

The jury is appointed by the Members of the Board of the Scriptie vzw and under the auspices of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts and the Royal Academy of Dutch Language and Literature. The members will not be revealed until on the night of the presentation of the Flemish Dissertation Award.

Faroek Ozgünes - Journalist and news anchor for VTM, the Flemish commercial television station.

Margot Vanderstraeten - Author and celebrated journalist for the Belgian quality newspaper 'De Morgen'. Winner of the 2003 Debuutprijs with her novel 'Alle mensen bijten'.

Paul Lagasse - Professor at the University of Ghent and chairman of the Board of the Institute for the Promotion of Science and Technology in Flanders.

Paul Van Rompuy - Former professor at the Department of Economics at the Catholic University of Leuven and member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts. Mainly performed research in three domains: fiscal federalism, labour economics and public finance.

Harold Polis - Publisher at Meulenhof/Manteau, a leading publishing house of Dutch-language fiction and non-fiction in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Siska Blanckaert - Publishing assistant at Die Keure, a Flemish publishing house.

Geert Lambrecht - Publishing house Roularta Books, publisher of newspapers and news and niche magazines.
