Time is (t)issue

Stel u voor, het ergste overkomt u. U belt de noodcentrale 112 en de ambulanciers snellen u te hulp. Het spreekt voor zich dat elke seconde van belang is.. Maar zijn we ook spaarzaam met die uiterst belangrijke seconden?

Wanneer u iets overkomt, zijnde het een ongeval of een acute aandoening, spreken we van het ‘gouden uur’. Dit is het eerste uur na het ongeval, wanneer we binnen deze tijd handelen is uw kans op overleven groter. Als u weet dat de gemiddelde tijd voor aankomst van de ambulance twintig tot dertig minuten bedraagt, dan blijft er nog maar een half uur over waarin veel moet gebeuren. De ambulanciers die u komen helpen, moet niet alleen jouw leven redden, ze moeten ook snelle en juiste beslissingen maken, de juiste hulp vragen en hebben een grote administratieve verantwoordelijkheid. Niet gemakkelijk en zeker niet wanneer elke seconde telt! Bij al deze taken komt vanzelfsprekend een heleboel communicatie kijken. De noodcentrale communiceert met de ambulanciers, die op hun beurt zouden moeten communiceren met het ziekenhuis. Maar de ziekenwagen communiceert toch al met het ziekenhuis, zegt u? Dat blijkt niet zo te zijn..

Onaangekondigde patiënten

De ziekenwagen komt namelijk vaak onaangekondigd aan in het ziekenhuis. Hierdoor heeft het ziekenhuis geen tijd om zich voor te bereiden op uw komst en moeten de ambulanciers vaak wachten voor ze de verantwoordelijkheid kunnen overlaten aan het ziekenhuis. Wanneer elke seconde telt, zorgt dit voor een gigantisch tijdsverlies dat u, als patiënt , in gevaar brengt. We kunnen dus kostbare tijd winnen door het ziekenhuis vooraf in te lichten over uw komst. Niet alleen voor u en uw veiligheid, is dit zinvol. Ook voor de verpleegkundigen, artsen en leidinggevenden van het ziekenhuis is dit interessant omdat ze streven naar efficiëntie, de hoogste patiëntenveiligheid en kwaliteit van zorgen.

Verloren patiëntengegevens

Het onaangekondigd aankomen van de ziekenwagen is niet het enige probleem. Door het gebrek aan communicatie tussen de ambulance en het ziekenhuis gaan er veel van uw gegevens verloren. Dit is gevaarlijk voor u, de patiënt, want hierdoor zou u een verkeerde of laattijdige behandeling kunnen krijgen. De WHO zette dit fenomeen zelfs op zijn prioriteitenlijst om aan te pakken in Westerse landen. In het slechtste geval zullen de mensen die uw leven redden niet weten wie u bent of wat er is gebeurd waardoor u op de spoedgevallendienst terecht bent gekomen. Wanneer de ambulanciers uw gegevens wel mondeling meegeven op de spoedgevallendienst is het moeilijk voor de verpleegkundige of arts om goed te luisteren. De spoedgevallendienst is een drukke en rumoerige omgeving en de focus van de hulpverlener gaat uit naar het redden van uw leven, het is dus moeilijk om aandachtig te luisteren én alles te onthouden. Bovendien blijkt dat als ambulanciers gegevens uit hun hoofd doorgeven, er slechts 33% van de correcte, oorspronkelijke gegevens wordt behouden. Dit cijfer moet omhoog! En gelukkig kan dat ook. Wanneer ambulanciers gebruik maken van een digitaal ondersteuningsmiddel tijdens de overdracht stijgt dit cijfer zelfs tot 99%! Bovendien kunnen al die digitale gegevens makkelijk aan uw patiëntendossier worden toegevoegd en gaan ze nooit meer verloren.

Tijd om tijd te besparen

Het is tijd om tijd te besparen en efficiënter te gaan communiceren. Dit zullen we doen met behulp van een applicatie waarin de ambulanciers al uw gegevens invullen. Dit lijkt misschien niet zo praktisch maar de applicatie is zo gemaakt dat ze de ambulanciers ondersteunt in het benaderen en efficiënt helpen van de patiënt. Gedaan dus met extra administratieve belasting en tijdsverspilling. Wanneer de ambulance naar het ziekenhuis vertrekt, worden uw gegevens doorgestuurd en zal er een melding verschijnen in de spoedgevallendienst met de verwachtte aankomsttijd en graad van urgentie. Op die manier, is de tijd dat de ziekenwagen onderweg is, gewonnen tijd omdat de spoedgevallendienst zich kan voorbereiden en u meteen kan ontvangen.
