Hoe leven, denken en creëren we in onze huidige onstabiele tijden? Doorheen de velden van de landschapsarchitectuur en kunsten is deze scriptie een zoektocht naar hoe deze vraag bewuste en onbewuste keuzes over inhoud en structuur tijdens het creatieve proces kan beïnvloeden in deze velden.

A systematic and chronological overview of contemporary literature on horizontal organization (HO) is given; organizations with less hierarchy, more autonomy for the participants and tools for shared decision-making power: commons, cooperatives, participation/co-production and self-managing teams and organizations. This literature shows an evolution from 1900 towards an increasingly broad cultural understanding of organizations within the organizational sciences: at first the focus was only on the needs of the organization, nowadays a paradigm prevails that increasingly incorporates the needs of the participants and environmental factors.

Deze masterproef bestudeert de impact van literaire prijzen op vertalingen. Daarvoor wordt gekeken naar de Libris Literatuur Prijs, de Literatuurprijs van de Europese Unie en de Booker Prize.

Deze scriptie onderzoekt de verschillen tussen de sociale mediakanalen Instagram en TikTok. Welke content post een bedrijf het best op Instagram en welke op TikTok? Mag dit dezelfde content zijn of moet een bedrijf een duidelijk onderscheid maken tussen beide platformen? Deze content werd onderzocht op basis van beste aesthetic, tone of voice en inhoud voor elk van de twee platformen.

This thesis examines Okada Toshiki’s Ground and Floor and Time’s Journey from the perspective of
post- and nonhumanism, especially in the vein of those dead. Within the various strands of post- and
non-humanism, the focus is on ghosts, especially as described by Jacques Derrida - who coined the
term “hauntology” - and by Mark Fisher, who applied the term to his theory. Post- and nonhuman
philosophy have the potential to inspire creative, innovative and effective ways of re-thinking the
human that surpasses mere humanist self-hatred. By staging ghosts and drawing attention to
nonhuman others, Okada’s theatre fits within this project. I would like to propose that the ghost can
be used as a metaphor within a more fruitful post-anthropocentric worldview. This would be a
Hauntoloscene, a world in which we gain spirit by recontextualizing our relationship with what is not.
The figure of the ghost allows the past to be brought into the present.

STEM-onderwijs kennen we intussen allemaal, maar hoe zit het met STEAM? Hoe wordt STEAM vandaag de dag geïmplementeerd in het Vlaamse onderwijs? En wat is de meerwaarde van de A? In deze scriptie geven verschillende leerkrachten een zicht op de werking met STEAM in ons huidige scholenlandschap.

Deze masterproef onderzocht nieuwe mogelijkheden voor de differentiële diagnose van unipolaire majeure depressie en de bipolaire stoornis. Zowel optimalisaties als validaties van verschillende protocols werden uitgevoerd om de verzameling en analyse van perifere mononucleaire cellen en neuronale extracellulaire vesikels verder op punt te stellen. Hierbij lag de focus op het ontwikkelen van een nieuwe potentiële bron van biomerkers voor stemmingsstoornissen.

Once the boundaries between immanent existence and transcendence have been drawn, a typically modern undertaking, all we are left with is the sensible, whereas the supersensible becomes synonymous with the illusionary. This predicament does not have to be inherently problematic, at least from a religious point of view. For philosophy, however, it has often been understood in terms of a disaster, addressed with the ambiguous notion of nihilism. This is particularly true of post-Nietzschean philosophy, in which a holistic understanding of the notion of nihilism is often adopted to argue for the impossibility of both philosophy and transcendence. In this master’s thesis I investigate the relationship between nihilism, philosophy and transcendence as it came about in the philosophy of Karl Jaspers (1883–1969). This 20th century German thinker took great interest in the concern of the captivity of the immanence of thought and formulated creative answers to the question of transcendence after the alleged death of God. For Jaspers, the problem of nihilism was perennial to philosophy, and in the course of his life he devoted many pages to an attempt of overcoming it.
First, this thesis analyses the problem of nihilism on its own, in its pre-Nietzschean and Nietzschean manifestations, to come to terms with its alleged threat to philosophy. With regard to the vastness and richness of the notion, some topics are inevitably left out, such as the religious nihilism of Walter Benjamin and Gershom Scholem, or the extensive elaborations on nihilism in contemporary continental philosophy, for example on the divergence between the interpretations of Martin Heidegger and Emanuele Severino. Second, we turn to Jaspers’ own understanding of nihilism. Jaspers defined the nature and value of philosophy through its confrontation with nihilism, which, for him, represented a kind of anti-philosophy. Philosophy had to go through nihilism to become true philosophizing. Jaspers proposed an ingenious argument that separates nihilism from philosophy, existence from immanence and truth from knowledge. To make this case, we primarily turn to Jaspers’ Von der Wahrheit, Der philosophische Glaube and his books on Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophy. In Nietzsche und das Christentum, for example, Jaspers argued that Nietzsche at times separated the figure of Jesus from Christianity. In this separation, Jaspers argued, a possible way of overcoming Nietzsche’s nihilism in a philosophy that originates in love was already made possible by the fundamental distinctions of Nietzsche’s own critique of Christianity, for example his dismissal of all contradictions.

Deze thesis verkent de gebruiken van Moringa, een subtropische boomsoort, in Nicaragua. Het bekijkt de productiemethodes van de boom, de bladeren en afgeleide producten - poeder en concentraat -, maar ook de socio-economische factoren en de nutritionele waarde van deze producten.

Adverteerders hebben het vandaag de dag moeilijk om reclame tot bij de consument te brengen. Als dat al lukt, is het een kunst om de aandacht vast te houden. Humor is daartoe een veelgebruikt middel. Kan een kwalitatieve schrijver in een reeks van vaardigheden beschreven worden? Kunnen uitgevers überhaupt een beeld schetsen van het soort schrijver dat zij zoeken? En stemmen de verschillende visies hierop met elkaar overeen? Deze vragen vormden het uitgangspunt van een onderzoek naar een competentieprofiel voor de professionele romanschrijver.

Persartikel: TV is dood, lang leve TV !Deze uitspraak geeft goed aan welke tegenstrijdige sentimenten er heden ten dage leven in de audiovisuele sector. Aan de éne kant heb je de onheilsprofeten die geen toekomst meer zien voor televisie, aan de andere kant zijn er velen die menen dat het allemaal wel niet zo een vaart zal lopen en dat televisie ook in de toekomst een belangrijke bron van informatie en ontspanning zal blijven. Bewijzen voor de argumenten die de onheilsprofeten aandragen zijn zeldzaam. Overal ter wereld wordt er meer en meer TV gekeken.

 
This thesis describes how the social-ecological system around the Mara wetlands has changed during the previous five decades. These wetlands are mainly fed by the Mara River, which has its sources in the Kenyan Mau Escarpment. After flowing through two worldfamous wildlife parks (Serengeti and Maasai Mara), it continues in the downstream Tanzanian Mara wetlands and finally flows out in Lake Victoria.
The major focus of this thesis is on how the riparian Wakenye people in Northwest Tanzania have adapted their livelihoods to the changing context.
